What do you do… with a B.A. in English…?
So, I just found out that one of Kitchener’s theatres, Center in the Square, is putting on a production of Avenue Q. It runs from November 24th to 26th. Of course, since Avenue Q is one of my favourite musicals… guess who wants to go really really badly?
It’s after my midterms (the last of which is early November) and is more than a week away from when finals start (December 9th). So, provided I can at least finish all immediate homework at the time, it shouldn’t conflict academically. However, there do not seem to be any student prices, so the cheapest I can get a ticket for is 50 bucks, and that’s a second balcony seat, which is really crappy. the most expensive tickets are 90 dollars, which I’m obviously not willing to spend. A decent seat in the mezzanine is 60 bucks.
Of course, I doubt anyone will go with me, because I don’t know anyone here who likes Avenue Q, much less someone who’s willing to pay that amount of money just to go see it. Which would mean that I’d have to go all by myself. Which is really lonely. But it’s Avenue Q!!
So I’m in a bit of a bind here. Should I go or not? Tell me your thoughts!

GO!
who cares about the money?
It’s not like you’re getting an B.A. in english. (Ha)
Take it from an economic perspective.
Economic surplus(ES) = Marginal benefits (MB)- Marginal Costs (MC)
Lets say that The MC is the cost of the ticket plus your opportunity cost (ie: what you could be doing if you didn’t go to the show)
And the MB is just how much fun you will have given that you love avenue Q.
Noww, weigh them and then if your ES is +, go
If its -, don’t go.
but I think that it’s going to be +
THere, now you have helped me study chapter 1 of my economics course… at least part of it.
My prof would be so proud… I used economics in everyday life!
SHe is always asking if anyone used the cost/benefit priniple over the weekend. No one puts their hand up.
Anyways, hope you go.
Email me about your life in rez.
How I wish I was in the same boat as you.
I should write my paper now.

Stupid piece of crud website. I wrote the most amazing response ever and then because I didn’t include my email it got rid of it. GARBAGE!
Okay, basically, I was comparing the situation to if I were going to see this amazing guitar playing Korean kid named Sungha Jung who you MUST Google immediatment! I’d first go around and ask people in my classes if they had heard of Sungha or were interested in ever seeing Sungha perform. If yes, well then SCORE! made a new friend and are going to the concert. If not… well then I’d have to think about how badly I wanted to see Sungha perform myself. Really badly? Maybe.
Basically, I would call my mom and ask her her opinion, becuase I feel better when I do that. She usually has good ideas.
And you can do a lot of things. Have you ever heard of the Canadian Government? They love English nerds, eat them for breakfast all the time.
Oh, and I watched Howl’s Moving Castle for the first time last night. It was pretty cool. Question for you, that picture you have as a header, is that from Card Captors?
WHAT. Go to eeet! And videotape it secretly, so I can watch too. XD But seriously, just con someone in your dorm to go with you. There has to be at least ONE PERSON whom you can tolerate who would want to go see Avenue Q. And I would totally come if I was there.
